Gilad Erdan MK

Gilad Erdan (born September 30, 1970 in Ashkelon) is a Member of the Knesset on behalf of the Likud, Minister for Environmental Protection and the Minister who liaises between the Knesset and the Cabinet.

Erdan studied at Netiv Meir Yeshiva High School, completed his IDF military service with the rank of Captain and began to study law at Bar Ilan University, where he also first came to political prominence when he led the protests against the Oslo Accords.

Before he was elected to the Knesset, Erdan was an adviser to Ariel Sharon while he was still a member of the Opposition in 1995.  After that he was an adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and head of the Public Enquiries Department in the Prime Minister’s Office.

In the Likud primaries, Erdan was placed at no. 28 on the Likud list for the 16th Knesset, after serving 6 years as chairman of Likud Youth.  During this period he worked hard for the war against traffic accidents in Israel.

In the Likud list for the 17th Knesset, Erdan was selected for second place.  At the Likud primaries for the 18th Knesset, Erdan won second place and was elected for another term in the Knesset.  In March 2009, on the formation of the 32nd government, Erdan was appointed Minister for Environmental Protection and Liaison between the Knesset and the Cabinet.

Erdan lives in Ganei Tikva, is married to Shlomit and father to three children.
